Fishing trip with no fish

Skelton Lake

We’ve gone to Mammoth gazillion times but mostly in the ski/snowboard season. We’ve done biking in the summer too, but this time is different. We went off-roading and hiking in search for fish, fishing in the alpine lakes.

The scenery is breath-taking, making me nostalgic about the Rockies in Canada except the mountains are more snow-capped and greener, the lakes are richer in colours (various shades of turquoise) and everything is more expansive and grand in the Rockies. The eastern Sierra is the miniature of the Rockies. The trip reminded me how much I missed hiking and getting lost in the nature on the off-beaten tracks.

“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for his life time.” Well, we tried to teach the kids how to fish yet caught none so we fed them with fish tacos.
