The Lasso Way

Ted Lasso dropped the finale (not just for the season but for the entire show) last week, ended on a high note. I bawled my eyes out as usual. It’s probably the best one yet as far as tv series goes. I knew that it was a good one when I found myself pausing the show at times just to jot down the lines. Here are my favourites: 

You know what the happiest animal on Earth is? It's a goldfish. You know why? It's got a 10-second memory. 

Be curious, not judgmental. 

Your body is like day-old rice. If it ain’t warmed up properly, something real bad could happen. 

I think that you might be so sure that you’re one in a million, that sometimes you forget that out there you’re just one in 11. 

If the Internet has taught us anything, it's that sometimes it's easier to speak our minds anonymously. 

If you care about someone, and you got a little love in your heart, there ain't nothing you can't get through together. 

I promise you there is something worse out there than being sad, and that's being alone and being sad. Ain't no one in this room alone. 

There's two buttons I never like to hit: that's panic and snooze. 

If God would have wanted games to end in a tie, she wouldn't have invented numbers. 

I think things come into our lives to help us get from one place to a better one. 

When it comes to locker rooms, I like 'em just like my mother's bathing suits. I only wanna see 'em in one piece, you hear? 

Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse, isn’t it? If you’re comfortable while you’re doing it, you’re probably doing it wrong.

Football is life. But the beautiful life is total football. 

Total Football is about letting go of your baggage and trusting your intuition. It’s jazz. It’s Motown. It’s Mamet. It’s Pinter. It’s Einstein. It’s Keurig. It’s Gaga. It’s my mother proudly displaying her vibrator on the bedside table! It’s about throwing off the constraints put upon you by society and by yourselves. We all know football is life. But a beautiful life is Total Football.

Anger will only weaken you. If you really want to piss off the people who did this, forgive them. Forgive them. Big whoop. … Don’t fight back. Fight forward. 

Just because we own these teams doesn't mean they belong to us. And I don't want to be part of something that could possibly destroy this beautiful game. Because I would hate for all those little kids and grown-ups out there to ever lose access to that beautiful, passionate part of themselves. 

That is the thing about being a parent. Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win, but most of the time you just tie. All we can do is keep playing. 

Air conditioning is a privilege not a right. 

Eat, Pray, Love style, right? Well, more like Drink, Sleep, Fսck. 

Change isn't about trying to be perfect. Perfection sucks. Perfect is boring. Human beings are never gonna be perfect. The best we can do is to keep asking for help and accepting it when you can. And if you keep on doing that, you'll always be moving towards better.
