Arazá, Araxá, Arashá

I have three shipments arriving in the next month, so to take advantage of the last “free” weekend, we decided to take an excursion with el ninja. Weighing all the options (montanita, tena, mindo etc), at the end, we chose to go to the rainforest resort at Mindo with my in-laws since it is only 2 ½ hours away from Quito.

We were the ONLY guests when we arrived – funny enough that when papi made the reservation, they were like, “ you’d better reserve it now because we almost have no room left”, such a BS.

Nice to breath in the fresh yet humid air and get out the city for a while. I think el ninja likes it too. Waking up with birds tweeting and going to sleep with cicada chirping is certainly a luxury. The waiter brought in a special juice for the breakfast, “ this is the juice of Arashá, made of the fruit called Arashá.” Papi looked at him with a skeptical smile and started digging in the Wikipedia on his blackberry. “Arazá it is! It is the fruit from Amazons in Brazil.” The waiter then explained how different regions pronounce it different and finally it is derived to Arashá in Ecuador. “At least this one is true.” Lol.

Well, Arazá, Araxá or Arashá, it didn't really matter. All I know that I was well-rested from a relaxing long weekend in the jungles. (to be honest, if I were to write a review of the place, it is definitely over-priced for what it is.)
