54, 74, 90, 2006-Wir farhen nach Berlin!

Only the 2nd game, but people are already going nuts here in Deutschland. Went down last night to Köln to watch Deutschland vs. Poland. The atmosphere was amazing when Deutschland finally kicked in a goal at the 90th minute (totally as what I predicted "1-0 90th minute", should have taken the 50 euro bet with T, darn!!) “Aufgehts Deutschland, Aufgehts!!” “Berlin, Berlin, Wir farhen nach Berlin!” How lucky I am to be in the centre of the attention of the world!

Love the song 54, 74, 90, 2006, a cheesy rock done by a Munich band called “Sportsfreunde Stiller” dedicated to the Worldcup as Germany was the world champion in ’54, ’74, and ’90.

Let’s do some math: 54 x 74 – 1990, what do you get? Ya, 2006 babe!!!! Going to be insane if they actually make it to the final☺ Vamous a ver!

“Das Runde muss ins Eckige, Deutschland wehrt Weldmeister!”

El fin (for a while)

Hard to believe that my first year of MBA is over. Been in Barcelona for 9 months now, feels I have been here forever—so many memories, so many great people, so many life lessons. Going to take all of them with me to Deutschland. Spent the past week cleaning, relaxing, running errands and gradually getting myself in the mood for the summer/work. Having somewhat a mixed feeling when it all came to an end-happy that the craziness is over but sad that people I have been spending 24-7 with are all going the separate way for a while…as we grow older, it takes longer to make connection with people and harder to let go of people we are attached to, no?

Think we are all just like Sagrada Familia, always going to be under construction, always have something to be added on..always going to be an unfinished project...

Oh le le, Oh la la

MBA Tournament (May 26-28, 2006)

156 of us went to Paris for the weekend for the MBA Tournament, the biggest MBA gathering in Europe-all the major European business schools get together to compete against each other at various sports. Totally exhausted but lots of fun!

Oh le le
Oh la la
ESADE is our name
And we will win the game!

Barcelona is on fire!!

UEFA Champion League: Barca vs. Arsenal (May 17, 2006)

It was the Wednesday the Barcelonans (barcelones) would never forget..when both Etoo and Belleti scored within 5 minutes apart after Arseonal lead for about 70 minutes. It was pissing rain in paris when the team claimed their third champion trophey in history. Amazing!!! I was pissing together with 50 other spanards and the only 2 arsenal fans (my friend O and A) in an English pub in Gracia. We walked down to Placa Catalunya to celebrate with the locals—it was INSANE. I must say, as if the city was on a riot, the new “catalan” revolution is taking place—people are playing firecrackers, shouting, singing, honking, even doing the human castles ☺ I got into the crowd and lost both my slippers..had to come out because it was too dangerous and scary, as if I was drowning. Ended up running for the bus and walking 30 blocks in the streets of Barcelona on bare foot. Quite an experience. What a night! I must say. How lucky I am to be in the city where all these amazing/historical moments are taking place. Definitely a warm-up for me for the world cup coming up this summer!

Espanyol: the last game

Dated May 13, 2006

Never seen the Olympic Stadium this packed before. Went to the last game of Espanyol, which is also the most crucial game of the season because they have to win the game otherwise they will be playing in the 2nd league next year (which is very very bad because all the good players will leave). Tying is not even good enough.

The hard-core fans kept cheering the team on but the game was rather boring until the injury time when scored 30 second before the game ended!! Such an amazing GOL and the entire stadium was going nuts!! I love it..the atmosphere..cheering with 49000 other people!! Plus I was a bit tipsy so it helped☺. Definitely going to buy the season ticket for Espanyol next season!!
