Cornish Pasty, Green Park, & Rock 'n Roll!

What's so special of cornish pasty that i have to blog about it? Okay, first of all, it's tasty (very rich though), mixed with beef and potato, usually with slices of onion and swede as well. Secondly, it's from CORNWALL (people from there are called Cornish as well), this poor mining/fishing town in the southwest of UK. But nowadays it is famous for its high waves which draw a lot of surfers all year around. Lastly, it is very LOCAL.

Went to this local cornish pasty place by the covent garden. It was a Sunday morning and already packed with tons of locals--hanging out and drinking beer (11am in the morning, can you believe it?) I couldn't help wondering how this country actually became the dominant power in the 20 century--very politically incorrect, goofy, and drunk most of the time (especially in the winter)..think that explains why all the men and women have beer bellies here--too much pasties and beer!

And of course, the gig of Massive Menstrual Bird (what a dumb name, eh?)--a semi-professional gig by a group of rock lovers, such a hard rock 'n roll...i popped by the rehearsal since my friend ole was playing the bass and had to leave after the first song--that's how bad the language was (sexist and offensive). That's he kept warning me about the gig and wish that i were still friend with him after the show :) Well, it was definitely entertaining though!!

So what else did i learn about london? Well, for the entire time, i didn't have to watch out for the dog poop (which is something that i have to keep in mind at all time in BCN) and the city didn't smell (like dog poop).

I also learned that I actually missed the cold and wet weather in Vancouver, odd eh? Didn't realize how much I missed the wet and refreshing air and the greenery until I visited Green Park--it was exactly what I needed after being in barcelona for 3 months. I missed the rain, the freezing-your-ass-off kind of cold weather, the open space, and the green scenery...perhaps it's like how the song goes..(this one is for you, pia:))"...this so-called vacation will soon be my death, i am so sick from the drink, i need home for the rest.."

more pictures of londre on my flickr account :) brick lane, columbia flower market, notting hill (portobello market)..God, i love markets!!
